The Heat Is On

Ever wonder what a knockout match is in football or in world wrestling what an elimination chamber match is about? This year’s BNP Paribas Open or known as the Indian Wells Open has a group of death. This year’s draw in the men’s category has a star studded line up including Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Del Potro, Rafa Nadal, Nick Kyrgios and Alexander Zverev, and out of all these only one will take the semi final spot, and each in their own regard is a champion. This makes the Indian Wells tournament one of the highly anticipated event after which we look onto Miami and then Paris; for the spectacular Rolland Garos.

Its breath taking as a fan of this beautiful sport, to be able to witness such huge names in one draw but the new management including Tommy Haas won’t have wanted this because this means that only on big name out of these will be able to qualify and attract crowds. Roger Federer after the win in Australia seems in a bit of a pickle after getting a shock in the Dubai Open to now in the most difficult draw of his life.

But according to Roger this is what he wanted to be able to face all the best talent now before a grand slam. The Swiss sensation will be most probably be facing either Rafa or Djoko, and this is the first time ever this has happened, as they say there’s always a first time for everything. The 3 out of the 4 best players who have dominated the game for a decade now excluding Andy Murray have won 12 out of 13 past Indian Wells championships and it seems this time there may be a new crown to the jewel.

Roger missed last year’s open due to knee surgery; he’s won it four times and has two finalist trophies to his name.  Out of the top 4, the newly king of Dubai, Andy Murray is lucky to be alone in the other half of the draw and it seems with the form he’s in, he’s a sure shot favorite to go till the semis. Lets hope the macthes live up to the hype.
